Blah, blah, blah, ah…Point Reyes Blue Cheese. Yum!

I have a cold right now and nothing, absolutely nothing, except tea has tasted good to me the last couple days. For lunch today I heated up some vegetable minestrone (from Whole Foods yesterday) to have with a fresh demi baguette from Mayfield Bakery. Blah. The soup, like everything else the last 2 days, was not appetizing at all. What I really wanted was some simple homemade Chinese soup. But since I don’t have the energy (or time) to shop and make some for myself right now, I thought I was out of luck – which made me a bit sad. You know, that silly sad you feel for yourself when you’re sick, not really sad…just sick sad. Then for some reason, I decided to try the leftover Point Reyes Farmstead Blue Cheese we had in our fridge. Finally!! Something with great taste and a nice smooth texture. It was perfect with the fresh bread. Blue cheese and a cold? I know, it sounds strange. Also, according to my Dad, you are supposed to avoid dairy when you have a cold. I think it adds to the mucous situation. While I normally heed my Dad’s words of wisdom, this time, my desperation won and I’m glad it did. Sometimes you just have to go with it.
