Interesting Article: A Cell Phone Agreement with a 13 Year Old
While I would tweak the rules a bit for our family, I love that this parent is so thoughtful about the impact of an iPhone on her child. We need to take advantage of such teaching opportunities. In this case, we have to help our kids understand responsibility and boundaries, which can be as simple as giving them reasonable guidelines and leading by example. I believe by taking the time to do this shows your child you care and do love them.
My daughter is just 5 years old and I think about these things. She is already proficient on her iPad and iPhone, luckily, at this stage boundaries are still fairly easy to set. But we are still laying a foundation for when she is older and need to help her understand things such as why she needs to pause a game or show and look at me when I am talking to her and we need to lead by example.
